Souffle (223)

Name Origin: Watching Julia Child on TV making a souffle, she explained that the word came the French, meaning breathe of air. As my wife and co-owner are French, and that we really enjoy good food and word play, it seemed obvious how we should name the boat.

Crew Adventures: Souffle's first Oregon Offshore was in 2013, at which time she set the record for the slowest last place boat to ever finish. (4 minutes before the 72 hour cut off), and in 2014, she set the record for the fastest last place boat to finish. (about 42 hours if memory serves). As one of my crew once said, it is not how fast you get it over with, but how long you can make it last. Besides, the longer it takes the lower the unit cost of the race for us. And, we have a good time.

Racing History: I will be in Victoria after the Oregon Offshore (Cruising Class), participating in the Swiftsure seems like the right thing to do. In past years I have raced on other boats in the Swiftsure.
