The Swiftsure Crew Bank allows sailors to post their information for skippers who are looking for extra crew. If you are interested in taking part in Swiftsure but don't have a boat, this is a good way to find a ride.

The following sailors are available as crew during Swiftsure 2012.

Bittner, Stefan 15-24 Male Weekly buoy races the last two years out of Bellingham on a J-35. Majority of the time I work foredeck with a dip pole. Raced a few buoy races and then the Shaw Island race on a SC27 during summer of 2011. Raced the 2011 Northern Century race out of Anacortes on a Dash 34 with a four man crew. Varied between all positions, including skipper, throughout the race. Raced 2011 Round the County on 50' German Frers IOR Custom mostly doing miscellaneous tasks and rail meat. Raced previously starting about 5 years ago doing buoy races, Round the County, and Swiftsure, usually was just rail meat or grinding as I was new to sailing and on a boat that wasn't very competitive. Will be doing many buoy races this summer starting in May. I'm currently a civil engineering student in Montana and come home during the summers to race sailboats. Contact
Bradshaw, Charles 25-44 Male I have been sailing for over 2 years. Crew on three boats, Esquimalt-Oak Bay-Maple bay and do club races every other week. I do my best to get on the water when ever I can and that's why I crew on so many boats. None of these boats are doing Swiftsure as they are either too old, going on someone else's boat, or don't have their boat Swiftsure ready.

Did three months of lesions with U-Vic every Saturday on their Flying Juniors a couple of summers ago. I did this so I would have a better idea of what was going on when I switched to a bigger boat. By the second month I was sailing alone instead of have two people on the boat. It was a blast!

Went on a cruise up to Hot Springs cove on a 42 foot Catalina last summer with three other guys. 24 hour run up, and a couple of 8-12 hour sails back. At one point I flew the kite for 6 hours straight then later switched to the helm for another 6 hours.

Did Round Salt Spring last year on a 38 foot C&C and we got in before midnight. Trimmed the foresail, flew the kite, and helmed on that race.

Can do anything on the boat but would rather stay away from the foredeck as I am a heavy guy (225 pounds).I'm easy going, listen well, don't talk too much, smoke, but don't drink, reliable, team player and always up for a sail.

Charlie.

Johnson, Peg 45-64 Female RACING EXPERIENCE:

Lots of long distance and buoy racing on boats from a J/29 to a SC70. Four years of sailing/racing.

Three Swiftsures: two Lightship Classics; one Cape Flattery.

Four Southern Straits: two long courses; one medium; one called off by the CG.

ON-BOARD SKILLS:

Boats < 70': Pit; good at kite trim, not as good at fine jib trim; mast; everything but bow.

Boats >=70' (SC70): Topping lift and foreguy/tack-line. Pit. Runners.

Have never gotten seasick.

Observant, watchful, know what's going on.

Good with:
maps, navigation, communications, numbers, record-keeping such as recording times (grids, rounding time, finish time etc), on-board organization.

I pay attention, listen well, and execute as told.
I am easy going, a team player, a positive personality, quick with a smile and reliable.
I don't talk much and keep my head in the game.

Musson, Alan 25-44 Male Hi,

I've been racing for the past year, doing mostly weekend regattas. Just finished the Southern Straights race this year.

I'm 6'3" fit and fast. I'm usually trimming the main or in the pit. But can handle any position.

I know I would be a great addition to any crew!

Thanks!

Jensen, Nicholas 25-44 Male I was a member of the McGill Varsity Sailing team and raced 420s for three seasons. As a result, I have a decent understanding of racing tactics.

Most of my experience is limited to racing dinghies. I have experience sailing keel boats for pleasure, but never racing them.

Mostly what I have to offer is an eager and energetic pair of extra hands. I am attentive and good at listening to instructions.

I am happy to help in the galley or do whatever is required of me.

Weisgerber, Aaron 25-44 Male I have 5 years of casual cruising experience on 26-52 sailboats. I raced wednesday night around the buoys at Oak Bay marina 2 years ago. Contact
Rogalin, Michele 25-44 Female Have raced on a number of different boats, primarily Puget Sound. Happy place is bow, but have moved around - all other positions except drive. I am competent, but not a rock star.

I am interested in racing with a solidly competent crew, not particular about what type of boat. Fast is good. :) I like crewing for captains who communicate well without yelling/drama.

Focused, energetic, good/clear communication, great attitude. Can help with delivery from Seattle. Trained in backcountry medicine, and will bring my bag. Also, I have put together current/tide/tactics information for the course (24 hours, from Saturday morning) and am familiar with safety requirements and race rules.
